Noya is upbeat, excitable and loud, usually letting his voice boom in conversation while others tend to speak normally ( and sometimes wince ). He is vigorous and functions naturally at a 200% energy output, and all that energy has to go somewhere, whether into a volleyball match or on poor people around him, shown to literally jump on them or yell in the middle of action movies out of sheer, unconstrained excitement. He's jaunty, perhaps a little too much, where some people tend to see his behavior as obnoxious or way too difficult to keep up with, but that doesn't seem to deter him in the slightest. He's got attitude— with spunk and spirited swag, it's hard not to admit he's got an alluring, secure air around him. His nature is boisterous, but Nishinoya is humble when he receives praise, and even gets terribly flustered when praised too much. Not only that, but he believes there's always room for improvement. He acknowledges players that are truly good and praise them for their skills, he picks up on his flaws and works on them to get better every time. Nishinoya strives for development for the sake of being helpful and never is there a moment where he's done everything. He openly points out their flaws tactlessly with the intention to help, though he is terribly blunt. Nishinoya expects effort; visible slacking is looked down upon, scolding and going after those who do, and neither is simply giving up on something while the rest of the team did their part viewed as admissible— not when he gave it his all. If you fall, fall forward, giving your best and put your spirit into it. Nishinoya can become pretty impulsive, and not simply just with his words. He's the type of person to follow up on pure instinct and ride his waves of emotion without thinking of the possible repercussions afterwards. This can be both a good or bad thing, depending on the situation: during volleyball matches, for example, Noya's effrontery can become extremely handy— he rushes to the ball for quick saves without thinking, body moving before his mind could even process what he should do, or calling if a ball is out or not. On the other hand, impulsiveness can get just about anyone into trouble at some point, and Nishinoya isn't a stranger to the downsides of his gut reactions. He's passionate with his feelings, whether it be happiness or anger, excitement or nervousness. So, when they come, Noya is a lot less rationality and more of a heart-worn-on-the-sleeve type of person. Nishinoya can and will lash out in the heat of the moment, and who particularly gets in his way at that moment won't be treated differently.
appearance
HEIGHT: 160.5 cm (5' 3.2")
WEIGHT: 51.1 kg (112.7 lbs)
HAIR: black, bleaches a front tuft.
EYES: brown, slanted and almost cat-like
Noya has a short stature but athletic build, strong calves, thighs and uncanny flexibility. He's voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto and makes it a goal to keep his voice raised to be heard. Most, if not all of his wardrobe consists of comfortable sportwear and t-shirts that display four character idioms (maybe memes). His eyes are sharp and focused, with thin pupils and an intense stare, and his hair is usually styled up to add 10 extra centimetres to his height. his demeanor is highly energetic, confident and communicates a secure and unique charismatic swag to him. he has no important scarring, but his hands are most likely hold a subtle roughness and callous on the palms and fingers.
past game info (forestcovered)
nishinoya’s first contact with the spiritual world began in koriko, forming a contract with the head witch of a spirit world resort for youkai and ghouls to relax and take a break from their eventful lives. in exchanging his true name, forgetting it and being given another (“raiden”), nishinoya firstly wished for finding his path and vocation in life as an adult. he worked a while in the bath house before being given a job at a vibrant barbecue house called The Boar’s Nest, as a waiter and delivery boy. nishinoya has learned how to coexist with the spiritual world as a result of his one and a half year stay, respectful of the dangers the supernatural world may pose and maturing considerably without losing his energetic charisma. a spirit known as the crow mother, a crow totem with milky white eyes, has been known to look out for him. he now has prominent arachnophobia, cautious of dense forest, a tendency to dream walk and connect more with spirits in that way, and knows the basics of boxing.

important past cr:
katsuki bakugou (mha): “kacchan”. after being kidnapped and prepared as a meal by a jorogumo, nishinoya is saved by his friend (who wouldn’t agree they were friends) and roommate, bakugou, who fights and “kills”the spider queen. their relationship budded from friendship to complicated— they’ve only ever kissed twice with bakugou constantly pushing nishinoya away in fear of complicating their stay and safety, but their chemistry and tension remained. later and with a vengeance, the tsuchigumo returns to plague koriko with nightmares until a choice is made by pcs: send her the intruder or the killer. bakugou ends up dead by her hand on nishinoya’s birthday, and it’s there that nishinoya changes his wish: revive bakugou, whether in koriko or return him alive to his home, and he’ll work in the spirit world for as long as that debt remains.
kaito (ajin: demihuman): “emi”. a reserved but very close friend of noya’s that frequently played volleyball with him to join the koriko-made hobby team. the go-to man to talk about their problems and feelings and work as sturdy support for each other, nishinoya vowed to bring him and kei (eiji) back to his own home since ajin world kind of sucks.
juzou sakakura (danganronpa 3): “mallory”. nishinoya’s “sensei” in boxing after getting accidentally knocked out by one of his punches and dubbing the martial art style “kaboosh”. brutally honest and caring for nishinoya in his own brusque way, juzou took noya seriously and even began to rely on him for small errands. the libero grew an attachment for him akin to that of a super cool uncle that has possibly been to prison but that’s okay because he’s, you know, super cool.
karamatsu matsuno (osomatsu-san): “larix”. nishinoya initially looked up to karamatsu and deemed him the ultimate cool guy for the majority of nishinoya’s stay, sharing a brotherly, friendly relationship with him and on fairly good terms with the other matsuno brothers (all of them). it wasn’t until being forced to choose “intruder” (noya) and “killer” (bakugou) that karamatsu discovered the identity of the killer and openly admitted to wanting bakugou dead. infuriated, nishinoya distanced himself and confronted karamatsu, ending their friendship on a sour note of nishinoya describing him as “disgustingly two-faced”.
kasplosion: nishinoya’s fire-iguana pet. he’s just an iguana that pukes lava when he’s mad. named after bakugou.

there’s a lot more but i’ll mention them if they ever show up
